A Collection of Favorite Recipes and Culinary Stories

FOOD AND FABLES

From Family and Friends

Food and Fables puts the fun in cooking! It contains recipes, true, but it also has helpful hints, humorous stories, food-related memories from family and friends, poetry and fascinating quotes about food. Diane has put together quite a collection that please the palette as well as the funny bone and makes interesting reading even if you never make it to the kitchen.

The Beverages chapter includes eleven recipes with some great ones for punch. Ten recipes for Appetizers, Dips and Snacks will satisfy those who like the zing of southwestern flavors with "Killer Fresh Salsa" and "Seven Layered Bean Dip" as well as milder choices like a cream cheese and brown sugar apple dip. Soups, Salads and Sauces provides twenty-one possibilities that take you from Japan, to Greece, to Mexico with a choice of enticing flavors. It you are looking for main dishes, casseroles or vegetable dishes, choose from seventy-five variations that all sound delicious. And when you are ready for the bread, rolls, pies, pastries, cakes, cookies, confections and other desserts--know that all eighty are simply "heaven sent"!

About the Author/Compiler

Diane Attilio

Diane grew up with 3 brothers and 2 sisters in Michigan. Her mother had a knack for "whipping things up" from ingredients she had in the house. Diane has dedicated this book to "mom" who daily met the challenge of cooking for her family, with no take-out or going out to dinner options.

Diane now resides in the Valley of the Sun in Arizona where she has raised two sons and is now enjoying grandchildren.

Humor from Food and Fables...

"A newly wed friend of mine was told to add popcorn to her stuffing (a cooking competitor, no doubt). She prepared her turkey for Thanksgiving with some uncooked popcorn. During the cooking of her turkey, it exploded in the oven. She wasn't laughing that day! (But I bet anyone reading this is chuckling!)
