The roadrunner is the world's fastest running flying bird. He would rather run than fly and can go as fast as 15 mph. The Roadrunner grows to 24 inches long and is black, brownish-gray and white streaked with a black crested head and nearly black tail. His under belly is white streaked with brown and has a pale blue ring around his eyes, with a prominent red streak at the back of this ring. (Information from the book.)
