The Wall

Escape into the delightful adventures of nine year old Belinda as she goes beyond The Wall and into the fascinating worlds of Double Circles and One Points. There she visits a gold fortress, holds a mystical rope, walks on air among floating flowers, becomes royalty with a boy named Eric, discovers magic marbles and is given her very own wishing star.

This enchanting story is intended for children of all ages; anyone with an imaginative mind who knows there is more to this life than meets the eye.

Reading - Thinking - Writing Section

Pieces of fiction often reveal truths about life and help deepen our understanding of ourselves and others.

Reading and enjoying The Wall was one of the goals in writing this story. But another goal is to help sharpen the reader's critical thinking skills and provide an opportunity for the expression of ideas and opinions in the reader's own writing. The Reading - Thinking - Writing Guide at the end of the story provides questions to help the reader appreciate the story more thoroughly.

And maybe, the story of The Wall will trigger a creative story that is the reader's own, with the reader's unique characters, situations and endings.

The Storytellers

The Wall is a work of fiction, the product of ten authors' imaginations. This young adult novel was written and produced to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Phoenix Writers' Club.

The project involved ten authors--one started the story, passed her chapter on to the next author to continue the story, and so on, until the story was completed. An editor compiled the chapters and added a Reading -- Thinking -- Writing section to help readers understand and appreciate the story more thoroughly, and perhaps even spark the reader's imagination to create a story.

The storytellers were very enthusiastic working on this project. They are real people, people who have dreams and aspirations, enjoy walking barefooted and wishing on stars, thrill over small things and collect just about everything, discover new worlds and journey through time, love being daring and adventurous.
